Direct from Brisbane, one of Melbourne’s newest and most talked about bands is Streetkid Vandal. Formed in Oct 2001, in Brisbane, combining two bands Elroy, and The Nobodies, both infamous underground Brisbane bands with niche followings. Their collision together has created an explosive sound, from the energy and style of 60’s and 70’s classic rock, thru to the punchy ‘new’ rock movement, and all things rock in between! A distinctive snarl and swagger has separated these guys from the glut of all things rock currently… Recently they have been tearing up the stage with other luminaries such as Rocket Science, The Pictures, The Cops, Dan Kelly and Dan Broadie and the Broken Arrows, and already have several jaunts up the east coast under their belt… Going with Cavalier Music (thru Shock) for their debut single release, “Cool As the Dead” is a thumping, shredding wake up call for sleepy hipsters and cynics alike. Coupled with 4 B-sides recorded live in one day at Cavalier, this makes one powerful little introduction a great future Australian Rock Band. Streetkid Vandal have had feature articles in all Brisbane,
Sydney, Melbourne street press, as well as the prestigious cover of Melbourne’s
Inpress magazine. Reviews and articles have also appeared in the Sydney
Morning Herald, Courier Mail – Brisbane, The Age – Melbourne,
as well as the Newcastle Herald. Radio play has included: Triple J, Triple
M -Syd/Bris, B105 - Brisbane, Triple Z, Triple R - Melbourne, PBS and
SYN FM – Melbourne. |
